Logged Picea forest, now dominated by Betula. Slopes and meadows; slopes with numerous, scattered limestone boulders and diverse herbaceous flora in organically rich, dark soil and with deep moss layer in many places.

Cap 5-15 cm in diam., convex to concave, often depressed over disc, brownish to brown, covered with dark brown or blackish squamules; hymenophore dentoid, gray to brownish gray, up to 5 mm in height; stipe 3-7 X 2-4 cm, brownish to brown, context grayish to brownish.
