Sichuan: Hongyuan Xian. NE of the city of Hongyuan on highway S209, then E on highway 301 toward Songpan Xian at Maiwa Xiang. Wet meadows with Salix and Spiraea, marsh, and shrub covered slope adjacent to meadows with scattered Abies and Picea. 33°4'40"N, 102°51'18"E; 3560 m.
At edge of wet meadow and beside stream. Dominant tree, 2-5 m tall; young stems red; petioles red; leaves abaxially pale dull green, adaxially shining dark green; fruit green.
