Sichuan: Maerkang (Barkam) Xian. SE of the city of Maerkang on highway 317, then on highway 211 to Dangba, village of Yinliang Cun. Thickets and open heavily grazed areas along stream and adjacent slopes with remnant forest with Acer, Betula, Fraxinus, Populus, Salix, Taxus and Pinus. 31°43'52"N, 102°4'19"E; 2365-2870 m.
In open by river. Tree 3-4 m tall; stems reddish purple; petals white See Rahn, K. 1989. A survey of the genus Sorbaria. Nordic J. Bot. 8: 557-563.
