Sichuan: Xiaojin Xian. E of the city of Xiaojin at Meiwo Xiang. Disturbed areas around abandoned cultivated fields, stony slopes above stream with scattered trees and shrubs (Salix, Berberis, Buddleja, Rosa), with Larix and occasional Abies at higher elevations. 30°51'35"N, 102°25'23"E; 3150-3250 m.
Open slope. Tree 10-15 m tall; bark coppery red, exfoliating; branches pendulous; leaves abaxially pale shining green, adaxially shining green Only one individual; with stone tomb at base.
