Steep, rocky slope with large moss-covered boulders in shade of trees near base. Most trees cut, but Quercus, Diospyros, Toxicodendron and Juglans regia remaining. Limestone bedrock.

Steep slope.Stems dark purple; leaves mottled green and purple; flowers purple and white Small flowered form with obovate (not flabellate) lip. One flower preserved in spirit collection at AMES.
