Sichuan: Kangding Xian. Between the cities of Yajiang and Xinduqiao off highway 318; S of Gaoersi Shan at E foot of peak called "Muzei" by local person. Alpine meadows with seepages and shrub thickets of Potentilla, Salix and dwarf Rhododendron. 30°1'30"N, 101°23'15"E; 4200-4250 m.
Growing up through shrubs in thicket. Roots carrot-like, fleshy; tepals bluish purple, lighter purple inside, veins bluish; anthers dark purple. Initially identified as Aconitum falciforme handel-Mazzetti by W. T. Wang, 2007.
