Sichuan: Kangding Xian. Between the cities of Yajiang and Xinduqiao off highway 318; S of Gaoersi Shan at E foot of peak called "Muzei" by local person. Alpine meadows with seepages and shrub thickets of Potentilla, Salix and dwarf Rhododendron. 30°1'30"N, 101°23'15"E; 4200-4250 m.
Wet meadow and among shrubs. Flowering/fruiting stems from massive rootstock; inflorescence varying considerably in height from plant to plant, 0.1-1 m tall; bracts yellowish, varying considerably in width, nearly round to lanceolate.
