Amanita umbrinolutea (aff.) (Gillet) Bataille
Sichuan: Xiangcheng Xian. Reda Lincha upstream on Mayi River from the town of Reda. Cut over forests, overgrazed meadows and rock ledges with remnant patches of Quercus, Salix and mixed conifers along Mayi River. 29°8'31"N, 99°38'59"E; 3450-3500 m.
On ground under Quercus at 3500 m. Pileus 3- 10 cm in diam., convex, obtusely umbonate, almost black at disc, outer region brown, striate margin (R=12/50, 13/48) dark to almost black, sometimes covered with brownish gray volval remnants. Lamellae grayish. Stipe 9-15 x 0.6-2 cm, densely covered with gray to blackish squamules. Volva 4.5-6 x 1-3 cm, outer surface grayish, often with brownish spots, inner surface grayish. With line drawings.
