On ground under Abies and Rhododendron 4000 m.
Pileus 4.5-6 cm in diam., convex to applanate, with an umbo, brown to reddish brown, darker at disc; margin striate (R=7/28, 5/28, 8/30, 9/26). Lamellae free, white, edge brownish. Stipe 10-14 x 0.8-1.2 cm, attenuate upwards, white to dirty white, (densely) covered with brown or yellowish brown squamules. Volva 3-5 x 2-2.5 cm, surface whitish to white, with rusty spots; inner surface brownish to dirty white. With line drawings. Cited: Mycologia 96: 643-645. 2004.
