On ground along stream in forest of Abies and Rhododendron at 4000 m.Pileus 10-13 cm in diam., almost applanate, brownish to whitish, with brown, fibrillose, appressed squamules. Lamellae free, red-brown. Stipe 10-13 x 1.5-2.5 cm, whitish, fibrillose, base subglobose. Annulus two layered. Context white, becoming yellow. Taste mild.
