Sichuan: Derong Xian. Upstream from city of Derong on road to Xiangcheng. Deep gorge of Ding Qu (river). Dry gorge with gravelly-stony slopes with xerophytic shrubs. Dominant shrubs Caragana, Bauhinia. 28°46'54"N, 99°18'27"E; 2600-2900 m.
On slope, growing up through rocks. Roots difficult to extract from rocky soil; petals white; stamens yellow.
