Gregarious and subfasciculate on steep slopes of alpine meadow.Pileus 10.5-35 mm diam; hemispherical and with or without a small apical papilla to broadly campanulate, eventually becoming planar; surface dry, becoming polished, smooth, glabrous, composed of appressed fibrils; brownish gray (5-6E4), with age taking on more brownish tones, the edges becoming black to blackish brown with moisture loss. Context thin, pale grayish. Lamellae ascending-adnate to strongly adnexed (nearly free), close with 2 series of lamellulae, moderately broad, breadth to 4.5 mm, brownish (5F5-6) to brownish-gray (5E4-5), fading to pale grayish with moisture loss; the edges concolorous initially, becoming darker brown with age, outline convex. Stipe 22-60 X 1.5-4.5 mm, central, terete or compressed, ±equal, hollow, surface dry, polished, glabrous, smooth, composed of tightly appressed fibrils; brownish gray(5-6E4) with streaks of darker brown and paler gray; base with whitish tomentum. Odor indistinct.
