Xizang (Tibet): Zuogong (Zogang) Xian. Dongda-La (pass), border of Mangkang (Markam) and Zogang xian on highway 318. Scree slopes, rocky vegetated slopes and adjacent level area at pass. 29°42'39"N, 98°0'9"E; 5100-5300 m.
Gregarious and solitary in soil with grasses and mosses, in alpine meadow, ~5089 m. Pileus 25-72 mm diam., +hemispherical at first, expanding to broadly campanulate; surface dry, smooth, glabrous; brownish initially (5F6-8), soon fading to golden brown (closest 5D-E6-7) and becoming polished with moisture loss. Context whitish to concolorous with the pileus, thick. Lamellae strongly emarginate (notched), close with to 4 series of lamellulae, fairly narrow, breadth to 9 mm, initially cream colored, soon becoming grayish (3B3), and finally brownish (4-5E4-5) with grayish streaks; edges paler. Stipe 34-60 X 5-14 mm, central, terete, equal above an enlarged base to ±subclavate, the base often curved, stuffed to solid; surface dry, slightly shiny, composed of appressed fibrils, smooth, initially pale grayish with brown streaks, eventually becoming mostly brownish but with a slivery/grayish sheen; the base covered with a whitish tomentum. Odor indistinct.
