Xizang (Tibet): Mangkang (Markam) Xian: Markam City. Hills on W side of Zhongyen River ca. 10 km N of the city of Mangkang (Markam). Heavily grazed Kobresia and Carex meadows with scattered islands of Picea, Juniperus and colonial Rhododendron. 29°44'43"N, 98°34'41"E; 4010-4160 m.
Solitary in soil near Picea, in Picea stand in alpine meadow, ~4109 m. Pileus 55 mm diam., convex; margin ±straight, striate; surface moist, shiny, smooth, glabrous, without UV remnants; disc and margin dark blackish brown, creating a light brown (6F5-7) ring between darker regions. Lamellae crowded, free, white; edges brownish. Stipe 120 X 27 (base) mm, central, ±terete, subclavate; surface of apex with shallow striations from lamellae (i.e., lamellar imprints), covered with brownish appressed fibrils over a whitish surface; the volva saccate, tissue fairly thick, white. Odor indistinct.
